What People Are Saying

“Ben has helped me immensely with identifying key causes of my running injuries. Through relieving tension in my muscles with relaxing massage, dry needling and also prescribing mobility and strength work, I have been able to move past my injuries. I continue to see Ben for routine massage as I ramp up my training and highly recommend him.”

“I really can't recommend Ben highly enough. Having had back pain for the best part of 5 years and a particularly bad flare in the last 6 months I thought I'd just have to deal with pain forever more, however after 2 treatments with Ben and some easy mobility exercises to do myself this is the best my back has ever felt. Very knowledgeable and thorough!”

“Ben has helped relieve my hip pain that I had been suffering from for a long time. He is very knowledgeable and has given great follow-up tips and exercises. I was also initially scared of dry needling but Ben does it well and I feel a lot better after dry needling. Highly recommend Ben! He’s helped me a lot with alleviating pain and improving my mobility.”

  • When you get a remedial sports massage treatment before a Crossfit Competition really depends on your goal. If it’s just to feel good before comp day and you're not dealing with any niggles, then the day before is fine. If you're looking to improve mobility or reduce muscle soreness, aim for 5 to 2 days out from competition day.

  • How often you come in for a remedial sports massage treatment varies from person to person. Some come weekly, others fortnightly or monthly. It depends on what you’re training for, whether you’re in comp mode or just managing your general recovery and movement.

  • Yes, Recalibration Sports Massage in Richmond may offer health fund rebates as long as you have this service listed in your extras. After paying for the treatment in full, you’ll receive an invoice to lodge with your health fund provider so they can repay you.

  • Recalibration Sports Massage is located at 116 Murphys Street Richmond, above Crossfit Richmond on level 1. You’ll find the stairs to the right hand side of the main entrance.

  • If you’re seeing a physio, chiro or osteo, you can still come in for a treatment as we can all work together. The goal is to get you back doing what you love, as fast and as safely as possible. If you’re doing rehab but it’s painful to move, we can help ease that discomfort, which makes it easier to stay consistent.

  • If you’ve got a niggle, you should certainly come in for a remedial sports massage treatment. At Recalibration Sports Massage in Richmond, we live by two proxies: pain and performance. They sit on a sliding scale, less pain equals better performance. When we lose range in one area, we often compensate elsewhere, which can lead to strain in other parts of the body. • No pain, no gain, right? Wrong. Treatment shouldn't be painful. Keep chatting with your therapist at Recalibration Sports Massage in Richmond, aim for about a 6/10 on the pressure scale: firm enough to feel it working, but not so much that you’re tensing up from discomfort.

  • You can absolutely talk during a massage treatment. Good communication helps us get the best outcome. Everything in the treatment room is confidential, and we’re great listeners too. We’re also happy to keep the treatment space quiet so you can fully unwind.

  • You may feel sore after a remedial sports massage treatment but it really depends on the individual. Everyone responds differently. If you’re still sore after 24 hours, let your therapist at Recalibration Sports Massage know how long it lasted so we can adjust next time.
